Xerces Society

The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation is an international nonprofit organization that protects the natural world through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitats. Their key program areas are: pollinator conservation, endangered species conservation, and reducing pesticide use and impacts.

Wild Ones - Twin Cities Chapter

Wild Ones promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities. The local chapter provides a venue for education and sharing information about using plants adapted to our own soils and climate.

Neighborhood Greening

Neighborhood Greening is a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental education and stewardship. They aim to harness the spirit of community to make small but impactful efforts that will make a greener neighborhood for both humans and wildlife. They offer many resources and an online journal, “The Butterfly Effect” published four times a year.

Pollinator Friendly Alliance

Pollinator Friendly Alliance is a grassroots conservation organization. Volunteer-driven and based in the St. Croix River Valley, they advocate for pollinators in local communities and beyond. They offer events, resources, news, and an annual publication of their magazine, “Pollinator”.

Minnesota Native Intelligence

Minnesota Native Intelligence is an online resource providing you with links to nurseries, landscapers, organizations, informational resources and authors who are dedicated to restoring critical habitat in Minnesota. They have a list of grants available based on district for native plantings, rain gardens, and shoreline and wetland restoration.

An online field guide for over 1,700 plant species with photos and information to help identify plants found in the wild, both native and non-native. You will find more than just wildflowers, they also include trees, shrubs, vibes, ferns and fern allies, and grasses, sedges, and rushes.

Yard and Garden - University of Minnesota Extension

The Yard and Garden Extension offers an abundant source of information and resources for everything yard and garden. You can find a variety of tools from planting guides, plant and insect identification, diagnosing problems and diseases in plants, and management advice with native and invasive species.
